KWK Over the Years

Keira’s Winter Klassic is so proud to announce that we have topped the $100,000 mark in overall proceeds to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation via Keira’s Krusade. All monies go directly towards the fight against pediatric brain cancer right here in Manitoba!

2021

In planning KWK this year we knew we needed to truly unite with those around us and try to bring back that feeling of connection. KWK has always been about ringette, our community, kindness, helping others, and Keira. This year, we brainstormed a way - a safe way - to continue this fun but caring approach to our tournament. A 12-Day Shooting Challenge was a perfect fit! Players and coaches would be safe and ringette would be the focus, even if it meant in the backyard or on the driveway. We knew teams would enjoy the opportunity to salvage some of this lost season and to support the fight against pediatric brain cancer. But, still, something was missing.

We met - on Zoom, of course - and racked our brains as to how we would bring back the intangible parts of KWK that have always meant the most: the community support, the connection with others, the kindness. It was only moments before 12 Days of Kindness for Keira went from a thought to an “event”. We knew kindness was key for a community that was feeling the weight of this past year.

We are incredibly grateful for the ongoing support that our amazing Manitoba ringette community continues to offer. These teams and individuals have always shown their support in so many creative and caring ways.

We are absolutely thrilled to have made so many new and caring connections with our participating ringette teams spanning coast to coast - 26 teams across Canada. Your enthusiasm and devotion to our tournament and our cause have inspired us even more.

Thank you to ALL of our players, coaching staff, families and supporters for a truly wonderful 12 days and for contributing to this very worthwhile cause. Over half of the total donations raised this year were from team fundraising endeavors. Such gratitude for this amazing Canadian ringette community and to all who continue to support Keira’s Krusade.

Keep practicing those awesome shots and continue spreading kindness in our world!
